Revolution teams should enhance Williamsburg Youth Baseball League teams, and not be considered a substitute to participating in league play. The goal of Revolution teams, is to provide a more competitive level of baseball for WYBL players between the ages of 7 and 18, and additional tournament style playing opportunities. The emphasis is on fundamentals, individual improvement, and teamwork with unselfish attitude.

During the fall when most WYBL League teams are considered primarily developmental, Revolution teams are both developmental and competitive for players looking for advanced levels of play. Revolution teams will play in travel leagues and tournaments on weekends, across Richmond and Hampton Roads. Tryouts for the fall teams are normally held in August, after the summer All Star season has been completed. Some of our younger age divisions are required or encouraged to play both, recreational Fall Ball and Revolution. Coaches of those age groups work to balance the recreational schedule and the travel schedule.

The Revolution season runs from Fall to Spring, typically ending when Spring recreation league play begins. Tournaments are often until late fall, and again in early spring. There is often a game break in December and January, with reduced conditioning and practice sessions.

Continuing in 2024: Prospective players must attend at least one tryout opportunity, but are welcome to attend all tryouts listed for the age group. For more information, please contact the travel ball coordinator.

A note about fees: The board is currently evaluating the fees for our travel programs relative to JCC Parks and Recreation's announcement of a per-player fee increase at the end of June. After the board votes on rates, we will update fees here. Please remember that you are not committing to a team by attending a tryout. We encourage everyone interested to attend tryouts!

Thank you for considering WYBL Revolution for travel baseball and softball. Please register for the skills evaluation tryout, so coaches know you are coming. Tryout dates are being finalized now. We will email, text, and post tryout dates on social media. Please register for the tryout, even if you don't know for sure you'll be here. We will schedule make-up tryouts or make other arrangements to get information about your player, if you are unable to attend.
